COLCHESTER, VT – The Merrimack College women's soccer team took down their first Northeast-10 Conference opponent Wednesday, defeating Saint Michael's in Colchester, Vermont, 3-0.

How It Happened
- Merrimack threw on a whopping 16 shots in the first half, while not allowing a single counter attack from the Purple Knights.
- It took just six minutes before the Warriors struck first. Sohpomore Izzy McDonnell finished off a shot from senior Tori Daigle.
- Five minutes later, the Warriors doubled their lead. After a shot from senior Gigi Guenther didn't find the back of the net, but Daigle finished it off for her second of the season.
- Saint Michael's kept Merrimack at bay for the remainder of the half, but a late goal before halftime extended the lead. A ball in from senior Emily Maier was deflected in by sophomore Taylor Robertson, her second of the season.
- Merrimack played nearly the entire bench in the second half, while posting a shutout through the back 45 minutes.
- Nine more shots were fired on, but Saint Michael's stepped up defensively to keep the Warriors at bay.
Inside The Numbers
- Gigi Guenther's first assist came off a rebounded shot, which is the second time this season she's earned an assist off her own scoring opportunity.
- Merrimack didn't give up a shot until the 70th minute.
