NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – After jumping 15 spots in the United Soccer Coaches' poll this past week, the No. 7 Merrimack College men's soccer program looks to keep its home win-streak alive with a 2 p.m. kick-off against Post University this Saturday, September 8.

Recapping the Merrimack Kickoff Classic:
  • The Warriors opened up with the annual Merrimack kickoff Classic, going 2-0 through two non-conference games to start the 2018 campaign.
  • In game one of the Merrimack Kickoff Classic, a 1-0 victory over Caldwell put the first win in the scoring column. Scoring was junior captain Aasmund Joedahl, while Tyler Packett picked up his first shutout since 2016.
  • Three different players tallied goals in game number two, which was a 4-0 shutout win over Molloy.
  • Senior captain Lars Sund scored his first of the season, freshman Henry Osei got his first career goal, and freshman Tola Showunmi notched his first two career goals in the rout.
Mack Facts:
  • Packett is one of two NE10 goalkeepers that haven't conceded a goal this year.
  • Showunmi's two goals are spanned between just 57 minutes of play in two games.
  • 19 players on this year's roster have played at least 45 minutes in the first two games.
Inside the Series:
  • The Warriors are 9-0-3 against Post, dating back to 2000.
  • 2016 was their last game against the Eagles; a 2-1 victory in their second game of the season.
Scouting Post:
  • In 2017, Post University made a run in the CACC tournament that they'll be looking to carry into the 2018 season.
  • After beating #3 Wilmington University, the team dropped an overtime heartbreaker to Goldey-Beacom in the conference semifinal; the same team that beat Merrimack in the opening round of the 2018 NCAA Tournament.
  • The Eagles were picked to finish 5th in the CACC.
  • Returning senior Abdallah Bah led the 2017 scoring last season, notching 10 points.
  • Returning 10 seniors to this year's roster, Post has dropped two of its first three games of 2018; 1-0 losses against Assumption and SNHU, two teams in the NE10.
