Five Things To Know
  • Merrimack has turned the page to 2019 with three straight solid outings that have featured back-to-back wins for the first time this year -- on the road, no less -- and they were an overtime goal away from making it 3-for-3.
  • After a 1-0 blanking of No. 11 Northeastern University last Saturday night that ended a nine-game winless streak , the Warriors traveled to Ann Arbor and came away with the program's first-ever win against Michigan on Tuesday night.
  • Including ties, Merrimack has played 10 one-goal games on the season, among the most by any team nationwide. The Warriors are 0-2-1 in overtime this year.
  • Five of Merrimack's top-seven scorers are juniors, headlined by Tyler Irvine's 14 points (5g, 9a), which are a new career-high. Junior defenseman Johnathan Kovacevic ranks third on the team in overall scoring and is the most productive blueliner with 11 points (4g, 7a). Freshman Chase Gresock is up to 12 points (5g, 7a), second most on the team.  The next three players on the scoresheet are all juniors as well: Patrick Kramer (5g, 3a), Logan Coomes (1g, 7a) and Sami Tavernier (2g, 5a).
  • Merrimack and UConn have played as tightly contested of a series as possible over the last four seasons with Merrimack holding a 3-1-5 mark in that span.
