Five Things to Know:
- The Warriors posted a double-digit victory on the road Tuesday, 84-71, at Adelphi. The triumph avenged last season's playoff defeat to the Panthers in Garden City, N.Y. while also garnering head coach Monique LeBlanc her 100th career win. LeBlanc joined Debbie Cogan (1986-1999) and Ann McInerney (1999-2005) as the only other coaches in school history with 100 wins
- Junior Denia Davis-Stewart led the way against the Panthers with 28 points and 16 rebounds, continuing her dominant trend of late. The starting center has a double-double in five of her last eight games, averaging 17.4 points and 12.9 rebounds per contest during that stretch. Her recent run includes a pair of 20-rebound games, and her first-ever 20-20 effort
- Defensively, Davis-Stewart has continued to be the top shot blocker in the country. Her 67 blocks lead NCAA Division II; her 3.94 rejection average is third nationwide. Senior point guard Karlee Alves has almost been a top-notch perimeter defender, ranking 10th nationwide in steals per game (3.29) and third in total thefts (56). Alves is also the top distributor in the nation, with 148 assists for an average of 8.7 per game
- In addition to Davis-Stewart, Merrimack's offense features three other players averaging in double figures. Senior Lindsay Werner leads the team with 15.9 points per game. The sharpshooter rests on 920 career points, aiming to become the first Warrior in four years to reach 1,000 career points. The sophomore tandem of Alyssa Casey and Mayson Kimball have also been pivotal to Merrimack's attack. The former averages 12.9 points per game and the latter contributes 11.5 per contest.
- The trio above are one of four Warriors with at least 29 3-pointers made; Werner (39), freshman Kate Mager (35), Casey (31) and Kimball (29) have hit 89 percent of Merrimack's triples this season. The squad leads the NE10 and ranks seventh in the country with 150 treys made this season, and only needs to hit 34 more to set a new single-season record
Series History:
- The 35th meeting between the two programs arrives tomorrow afternoon. Merrimack owns an 18-16 all-time lead
- The home team has won each of the last three regular season contests, including a 68-48 win for the Warriors during the 2016-17 season. Davis-Stewart registered a double-double of 13 points and 10 boards while senior Lexi Martin tied for the team lead with 16 points
- Le Moyne's nine-game winning streak has featured five conference wins, giving the Dolphins their best nine-game start to NE10 play since 2001-02. During the winning streak, Le Moyne is outscoring its opponents by nearly 19 points per game
