NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College women's basketball program sank 15 3-pointers on Wednesday night – the most at Hammel Court for the program this century – and posted one of its best offensive efforts of the season in an 81-62 Northeast-10 Conference victory over the University of New Haven. The Warriors led for all but 2:10 of the game, improving to 12-7 (5-7 NE10) on the season.

Kate Mager combined for eight makes, shooting 4-of-8 each. Four Warriors finished in double figures, led by 18 points from sophomore

Denia Davis-Stewart flirted with a triple-double of nine points, 11 rebounds and seven blocks.

- Merrimack's offensive onslaught began in the first quarter, when the Warriors shot 50 percent from the field. With the score at 10-7, the Warriors sank three straight 3-pointers from Mager, Werner and sophomore Mayson Kimball that increased the hosts' lead to 10, 19-9. Kimball finished the quarter with nine points, giving Merrimack a 23-13 edge before the Chargers hit the final bucket of the half, a trey, that made it a 23-16 contest
- The Warriors exploded in the second quarter, starting the frame on a 19-6 run over the first 6:19 to build a 22-point lead, 44-22. Davis-Stewart totaled seven of her nine points during the stretch, including a rare 3-pointer for the starting forward. New Haven briefly trimmed its deficit to 17, but a triple from Mager brought Merrimack's advantage back to 22, and senior Lexi Martin capped the first-half scoring with a late bucket to make it 53-31 at intermission
- Werner and Casey picked up right where they left off, hitting consecutive 3-pointers to start the third quarter to bring the hosts' lead to 24. Later in the frame, Kimball sank a long ball that made it a 64-39 contest with under four minutes until the fourth quarter. The make started a 10-4 run to close the quarter, with Merrimack owning a 71-43 edge through 30 minutes
- The Warriors were able to utilize their reserves for the majority of the fourth. Juniors Alyssa Torres, Emily Houle and Giulia Orlando all saw extended minutes. Freshman Caroline Wilson contributed five points, hitting a triple as well
Notes and Numbers
- Merrimack's 15 3-pointers marked the most hit at Hammel Court for the program since the 2008-09 season, when the Warriors hit 14 in a game. It is the most the Warriors have sank this century at home
- The Warriors entered the game leading the NE10 in 3-pointers made, ranking 10th nationwide. After Wednesday, the Warriors have made 171 on the year, needing 13 more to set a new single-season record for the team
- The shot a season best 50 percent (33-66) from the field; the Warriors' .441 3-point percentage was the fourth best through 19 games
- Defensively, the Warriors forced New Haven into 25 turnovers, scoring 30 points off the miscues. They totaled 17 steals, one of their season best
- Davis-Stewart needed just 24 minutes to flirt with her first career triple-double. The seven blocks were her most since the first game of December
- Casey (18), Werner (16), Kimball (14) and Mager (12) all finished in double figures. For Kimball, she chipped in with a game-high and career-high four steals. Werner now only needs 60 points to reach 1,000 for her career
