BOSTON, Mass. – Senior Katelyn Rae became the first player Merrimack College women's ice hockey history to hit the 100 point mark Friday night, as the Warriors fell to #10 Boston University 6-3.

Junior Mikyla Grant-Mentis recorded her second multi-goal performance in the month of January, earning her first hat trick of the season in the setback.

The Warriors got on the board just four minutes into the first period, when Grant-Mentis scored on a pass from Katelyn Rae; after review of the goal, Rae was given credit for the assist, making her the first Warrior to hit the milestone. The Terriers responded with four second-period goals, setting up adversity for the Warriors in the final period.
Grant-Mentis tallied two goals in the final 20 minutes to pull the Warriors within one; the Terriers hit two empty-netters, however, to seal the game.

Ridgewell gave up four goals but was tested throughout the game, making 31 saves in the loss.

Scoring Summaries
  • Goal #1 (1-0 MC) – After a three-point weekend against Maine, Rae was just one point away from 100 coming into the series against the Terriers; she didn't waste any time hitting the milestone Friday night. Her feed led to an open shot from junior Mikyla Grant-Mentis, whose blast put the Warriors ahead 1-0.
  • Goal #2 (1-1) – The Terriers stepped up the intensity in the second period, putting consistent pressure in Merrimack's defensive end. Deziray De Sousa sent a beautiful breakout pass to Kristina Schuler, who fired a one-timer that Ridgewell couldn't stop to tie things up halfway through the second period.
  • Goal #3 (2-1 BU) – Just over a minute after the equalizer, Mackenna Parker gave BU the lead. A shot from the blue line wasn't seen through traffic, rippling the net to give the hosts a one goal advantage.
  • Goal #4 (3-1 BU) – After a scrum in front of Ridgewell, the Terriers made it a two goal lead. Emma Wuthrich tucked in a rebounded shot, giving the Terriers its third goal of the period.
  • Goal #5 (4-1 BU) – The fourth and final goal of the second period came with less than two minutes to play; Schuler scored her second of the game to give the hosts a three goal advantage going into the final frame.
  • Goal #6 (4-2 BU) – Grant-Mentis buried her second goal of the night with ten minutes left in regulation. An absolute rocket from just inside the blue line was never picked up, cutting the lead in half late in the game.
  • Goal #7 (4-3 BU) – Grant-Mentis tallied her third goal of the game, pulling the Warriors within one with less than two minutes left. After Ridgewell left her post, the extra-attacker led to a scramble on the crease; Grant-Mentis found the puck on the far post and tucked it in to give the visitors a chance.
