NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College men's ice hockey team looks to build on its first victory of the season on Thursday night at Holy Cross when the Warriors continue on the road to RIT where the Warriors will face the Tigers on Saturday night. The contest will be a part of RIT's Brick City Weekend – the hosts' annual Homecoming Weekend. The contest will be played off-campus at the Blue Cross Arena, with puck drop set for 7:05 p.m.

Five Things To Know

  • Merrimack picked up its first victory of the season when they beat Holy Cross, 3-1, in non-league action on Thursday night. Freshman Troy Kobryn made 34 saves in the victory including a perfect final 40 minutes that saw the netminder make 27 total saves. Three different players scored for Merrimack headlined by senior captain Sami Tavernier, who recorded a multi-point effort

  • The visitors entered the night lacking a power play goal on the season, and missed on their first chance in the first period. That ended there as Tavernier's tally came on a 5-on-4 chance while sophomore Logan Drevitch added a goal on power play in the third period, finishing off a feed from Tavernier

  • The victory gave Merrimack its seventh straight win at Holy Cross, and 31st overall against the Crusaders in the long history between the two programs

  • Merrimack and RIT will play for just the 12th time, and just the second time since 1990. The most recent contest went in favor of the Warriors, 5-3, in 2011 when the Warriors visited the Tigers. Merrimack's won three straight in the all-time series, but RIT owns a 6-4-1 edge in the series overall

  • RIT began the year with back-to-back wins against Colgate and No. 17 Bowling Green; the Tigers toppled the Falcons in overtime, 3-1. The team's lone defeat of the year came to No. 12 Ohio State. Saturday's game marks the home opener for RIT
