HEMPSTEAD, N.Y.  – The Merrimack College field hockey program played its second game in three days on Sunday afternoon, falling to the Hofstra University Pride, 4-0, at Hofstra Field Hockey Stadium in Hempstead, N.Y. The non-conference contest marked the first-ever field hockey game between Merrimack and Hofstra
Merrimack will look to start a new winning streak and maintain its undefeated NEC record on Friday night when the Warriors face Rider University.

- Hofstra outshot Merrimack, 6-2, in the opening quarter and eventually found the back of the net with less than five minutes to play, taking a 1-0 advantage. Both teams played evenly in the second quarter, combining for just five shots. Senior goalkeeper Katharina Ohmen made two saves in the quarter to keep the deficit at one
- Senior Lindsey Nolte started the third quarter with a shot on goal, but Hofstra's keeper made a save. Through the first 10 minutes of the quarter, Merrimack controlled possession. In the final five minutes of the frame, Ohmen stepped up to make four saves in a span of 60 seconds. Hofstra finally capitalized, scoring with less than two minutes to go in the quarter
- The fourth quarter saw the hosts add on a pair of insurance tallies to make it a 4-0 final. Sophomore Bridget Shanahan added her team-leading second defensive save in the quarter
Notes and Figures
- Ohmen posted her third straight game with at least 10 saves, and seventh game with double-digit saves on Sunday
- She passed the century mark on Sunday for total saves, finishing the day with 109 on the year. She's within 16 of tying her career high for saves in a season
