HANOVER, N.H. – Heading into the fourth quarter, the Merrimack College women's basketball team trailed Dartmouth College by 13 points. Multiple turnovers off of a full court press and multiple threes by junior
Alyssa Casey paced the comeback for the Warriors, bringing Merrimack with two, 54-52, with 67 seconds to play. The comeback was ultimately cut short after the Big Green knocked down free throws on four straight attempts. With the loss, the Warriors moved to 1-2 on the season.

- The Warriors failed to score any points in the first four minutes of the game. Freshman Jayme DeCesare put an end to that drought with a three-pointer in the corner. Merrimack ended the first quarter with five different players in the scoring column. Dartmouth led by five at the end of the first.
- The Big Green came out hot in the second quarter, Ellie Louie led the way heading into the media timeout with seven points. For Merrimack, classmates Emily Houle and Denia Davis-Stewart both had four points heading into the under-five break. Freshman Diamond Christian gave the Warriors some momentum heading into halftime with an and-one with three seconds remaining.
- In the first possession of the second half, Casey hit her first three of the game. Out of a Merrimack timeout the Warriors shifted momentum, going on a 4-0 run highlighted by four points by Davis-Stewart. At the end of the quarter, DeCesare knocked down a three to cut the Big Green lead to 13.
- The Warriors went on a 5-0 run with four minutes remaining in the game. Grad student Courtney Clasen started it off with a drive to the hoop, followed by a Casey three in the corner. With 2:30 remaining in the game a full court press forced a Big Green turnover that turned into another DeCesare three to cut the lead to 10. With 1:45 remaining in the fourth quarter, threes by DeCesare and Casey cut the Big Green lead to seven. Fifteen seconds later the Warriors forced a turnover that turned into a Christen layup that cut the lead to five. With under a minute to play the Warriors forced another turnover off the press, this time Casey hit the layup to make the Big Green lead three.
Notes and Numbers
- Casey lead the way for Merrimack scoring 15 points including going 3-5 from deep.
- Davis-Stewart kept her double-double streak alive after scoring 13 points and pulling down 10 rebounds
- During the fourth quarter comeback Merrimack shot 42 percent from three and 35 percent from the field.
