Five Things To Know
- Senior Tyler Irvine netted his fourth goal of the season Friday against Northeastern in the 1-1 tie. Zach Uens and Declan Carlile tallied assists on the play. Carlile then scored the second goal of his rookie campaign Saturday in the 3-1 defeat.
- The Warriors outshot the Huskies by a 38-20 margin Friday at Lawler Rink. Merrimack has now outshot its opponent in six of the team's first 10 games and have a +35 shots on goal rating overall.
- Carlile was honored as a weekly top performer by Hockey East after his two-point performance in the series against Northeastern. The rookie blueliner has come storming out of the gates this year with eight points in the team's first 10 games by way of two goals and six helpers. His 14 shots on goal are also second on the team among defensemen behind classmate Zach Uens (26.)
- Jere Huhtamaa has steadily become the workhorse in the Warrior net after he has gotten the nod in five straight games coming into the weekend. The Finnish freshman has amassed a .888 save percentage and a 2.37 goals against average during that five-game span, which includes his first career win Nov. 3 at UConn.
- The reigning national runner-up enters the weekend with six wins in the past eight games, but has dropped two of the last three. The Minutemen have steadily held a top-10 national ranking to begin the year and come into the matchup against the Warriors with momentum after a 4-1 home win against Boston University last Saturday. Mitchell Chaffee leads the way offensively with 15 points in 10 games.
