NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College women's volleyball program will have just one match remaining at home in 2019 after this weekend as the Warriors will host a pair of Northeast Conference (NEC) matchups. First, Merrimack welcomes Fairleigh Dickinson to Hammel Court for a 6 p.m. match on Friday night followed by a duel with Long Island University on Saturday evening at 5 p.m.
Five Things to Know:
- With four matches remaining in the regular season, senior Catherine Flaherty is on track to lead Merrimack offensively. The captains has 126 kills and 136 total points on the year, leading Merirmack in both areas
- Sophomore Natasha Vallis and freshman Luna Colozzo join Flaherty by averaging over 2.00 kills per set; Vallis is enjoying a career season, ranking second on the team in kills
- In the setting department, senior Rosie Sperduto is averaging a team-best 5.62 assists per set over 17 matches. Defensively, freshman Taelyr Czech continues to lead the team in digs, with over three per set. Freshman Lily Blodgett has emerged as the top blocker, totaling 0.58 per frame
- Merrimack fell to FDU, 3-1, earlier this fall. The Knights have just two victories on the season. Freshman Taylor Sawyer impressed in the first matchup, totaling a team-best 12 kills
- LIU is in the hunt for a spot in the NEC Championship, sitting in fifth place with a 7-5 record. Since beating Merrimack, the Sharks have dropped four straight, and play second-place Bryant on Friday before travelling to face the Warriors

Merrimack will play its non-conference finale to begin the final week of the regular season on Wednesday when the Warriors face Dartmouth at 5 p.m. up in Hanover, N.H.
