The Basics
Score:
Merrimack 14, Franklin Pierce 9 | Final
Location: Bisaccia Softball Complex | Rindge, N.H.

Scoring Plays:
  • The Warriors came out of the gate scoring three runs in the top of the first inning. From third base, junior Tiffany Mangiameli took home on an attempted steal attempt from senior Hannah Johnson to put Merrimack on the board first. Then, with two aboard, senior Nicole Nanof ripped a double into left field, scoring two more and making it 3-0 before the Raven escaped the inning.
  • Merrimack continued to add to its lead in the second inning. With the bases loaded and no outs, sophomore Abigail Amato picked up where she left off against Stonehill, pulling an RBI single into left field. A sacrifice fly that made it all the way to the fence off the bat of senior Caitlin McBride made it 5-0 before Franklin Pierce picked up a pair of quick outs.
  • Merrimack was quiet in the third inning, but lit the scoreboard once more in the top of the fourth. With two aboard, sophomore Lucy Colarusso hit her first home run of the season, putting it over the left-center field fence to make it 8-0. After a Nanof single and stolen base, freshman Jenna Wike drove a single into right-center field, making it 9-0. After Jen Hutnyan singled to put runners on the corners, Kelly Dovi belted a two-RBI double, giving the Warriors an 11-0 lead.
  • Franklin Pierce got on the board in the bottom of the fourth. With a runner on, Cat Simmons blasted her sixth homer of the year, making it 11-2.
  • Franklin Pierce made it a game once more in the bottom of the fifth. Cat Simmons picked up two more RBI with a single to left field, keeping the Ravens from being mercy-ruled in the fifth. An RBI single from Lexi Garcia made it 11-5, and Ashley Rosario cleared the bases two batters later with a single to pull the Ravens within four.
  • Merrimack got three back in the top of the sixth inning. An RBI single from Johnson with two aboard gave the Warriors its 12th run of the game, and after loading the bases, a fielder's choice from Amato and a hit-by-pitch scored the next two runs.
  • The Ravens were able to put up three more runs in the bottom of the seventh, but Merrimack's 21 hits kept the game in their favor, winning by a final of 14-9.
