NORTH ANDOVER, Mass – After winning two of its first three Division I games to start the season including a near-victory in its most recent game at Rhode Island, the Merrimack College men's soccer team will look to bounce back as they host their home opener against UMass Lowell on Tuesday. The game will be played at Martone-Mejail Field and is set for a 4 p.m. kickoff.
Five Things to Know:
- This will be the first-ever Division I home game for the Warriors after starting the season 2-1 on the road
- Freshman Marc Torrellas has enjoyed a strong start to his career, leading the team in goals (2) and points (4)
- Graduate student Lucas Rezende has been very impressive for the Warriors with 13 saves and an .812 save percentage through the first three games
- Merrimack and UMass Lowell rekindle their local rivalry. Both teams were rivals in the Northeast-10 Conference before UMass Lowell made its transition to Division I earlier this decade
- UMass Lowell is coming off of a 2-1 double OT victory against Boston University, whom the Warriors defeated, 3-0, earlier this season
