MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Playing at Robert Morris for the first time in school history, the Merrimack College women's volleyball squad suffered a three-set defeat to the Colonials. Friday's contest markd Merrimack's Northeast Conference (NEC) debut, playing its first NEC match.

Set Breakdown:
- Merrimack played right with the Colonials in the first set, facing a Robert Morris team that was one of the final eight teams across Division I undefeated. The Colonials began the season with a 10-0 record. Sophomore Brooke Leestma notched a kill that put the visitors in front, 10-9, and Merrimack remained tied with the Colonials, 13-13. Robert Morris used a 6-1 run to take control of the frame, 19-14, and held on for a 25-17 win
- The Colonials handled the second set, as well. The hosts started the frame on a 13-1 run before claiming the set
- Robert Morris closed the third set to claim the match, 25-9. Sophomore Kara Haase posted two kills and a block assist to lead Merrimack in the set
Top Performers
- Senior captain and setter Rosie Sperduto totaled 14 assists and two kills on a pair of attacks for a perfect attacking day from the setter position
- As a team, Merrimack hit at a .407 clip in the opening set. The Warriors posted 13 kills compared to two errors in the frame
- Sophomore Sophie Meyers impressed on the day, notching three kills on nine attacks while adding a pair of block assists
- Freshman libero Taelyr Czech registered a team-best nine digs
