NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College women's basketball team will continue its two-game road trip in Pennsylvania on Monday when they take on Saint Francis (PA) at 1 p.m. The Warriors will look to get over the .500 mark in Northeast Conference (NEC) play. Saint Francis (PA) currently sits in second place with a 5-1 record in the NEC. The game will be streamed on NEC Front Row.
Five Things to Know:
- Though the first six games of conference play the Warriors have three wins under their belt. Senior Denia Davis-Stewart is a big part of the offensive game plan. In NEC games, Davis-Stewart is averaging 17.3 points, 13.2 rebounds, and 4.3 blocks per game. She is shooting 40% from long range making 12 threes through six games. She has 104 points in conference play, which is two times more then anyone else on the roster.
- Graduate student Courtney Clasen has come on strong during NEC play. Clasen is averaging 10.8 points and 6.8 rebounds during her five conference starts. In non-league play the grad student averaged only 4.2 points per game for the Warriors.
- Freshman Kaylee Thomas has provided a much-needed spark off the Warriors bench in conference play. Thomas is averaging 10 points per game in five NEC contests. The first-year guard is shooting 53% from the field, which includes going 5-9 from long range.
- Head coach Monique LeBlanc needs just two more victories to pass Debbie Cogan for most women's basketball wins in school history. Cogan set the mark of 120 wins during her tenure from 1986-99.
- Saint Francis (PA) is currently 7-10 overall and 5-1 in NEC play. Junior Karson Swogger currently leads the team in scoring averaging 13.1 points per game.
