NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College women's basketball team will host the Bryant Bulldogs. The game will be played at Hammel Court and tips off at 7 p.m. The game will also be broadcasted on NEC Front Row. The Warriors enter the game looking for their first Northeast Conference (NEC) victory.
Five Things to Know:
1. Senior
Denia Davis-Stewart is 12 points away from reaching 1,000 points for her career. So far this season she is averaging 18.6 ppg which is good enough for top scorer in the NEC. In addition to her scoring, Davis-Stewart is leading the country in rebounding with 13.6 boards per game this season. She is also 96 rebounds away from the 1,000-rebound mark. If she accomplishes the feat she will be the 2nd player in Merrimack College woman's basketball history to reach the 1,000 point and 1,000 rebound plateau. Davis-Stewart ranks 2nd in the country in blocks with 64 denials on the year.
2. Sophomore guard
Kate Mager is 32-73 from long range this season, which is good enough for 43%. Mager is also shooting 43% from the field during the first 13 games of the season.
3. Both freshman
Jayme DeCesare and
Alana Fursman were named to their local newspaper all-decade teams earlier in the week. Both first year player won state championships in high school.
4. Graduate student forward
Courtney Clasen is currently second on the team in rebounding (5.5), assists (32), and steals (17).
5. Bryant is 3-10 so far this season. Senior Sydney Holloway leads the team in scoring with 9.6 points per game.
