How It Happened
- The Warriors looked like a motivated team in the first period, as they took it to the Black Bears. Merrimack held a 7-1 edge in shots on goal midway through the frame and didn't let Maine get a second shot until 11 minutes in. Maine still found a way to escape the period with a lead, as a bouncing Cameron Spicer shot beat Warrior goalie Jere Huhtamaa with under four minutes to play.
- Merrimack kept its foot on the gas pedal in the second period and dominated the opening 10 minutes, but got rewarded this time around. While on the power play early in the frame, Logan Drevitch rimmed a puck around the near boards for Chase Gresock. He collected it, then slipped a pass right in front to Mac Welsher, who maneuvered a tight shot through the legs of Maine goalie Jeremy Swayman to tie the game at one.
- The game opened up midway through the frame and Maine capitalized, as Mitchell Fossier finished off an odd-man rush.
- Maine doubled its lead to two when AJ Drobot scored with under four minutes to play in the frame.
- The Warriors were awarded a power play to begin the third period and quickly found the back of the net for the fourth goal on the weekend with the extra skater. Ben Brar knocked down a loose puck and slid it to Sami Tavernier below the goal line. The senior fed the left point to Zach Uens, who crept in and fired a wrist shot past Swayman for his fourth of the year.
- Merrimack received a power play with under four minutes to play and had a pair of solid chances, but could not finish.
