NORTH ANDOVER, Mass.Charlie Bertrand was dominant with six goals Saturday afternoon at Duane Stadium, but the Merrimack College men's lacrosse team dropped a tight 13-11 decision to Dartmouth.

Rapid Recap
  • Merrimack got off to a dream start, as it found the back of the net on its first possession. Just over a minute in, Drew Hailey funneled a pass to Dom Thomas, who turned around and fired one home.
  • Dartmouth tied it up not long after, but then Bertrand went to work. The senior, and Tewaaraton Award Watch List nominee, went on a personal 2-0 run, as he blasted home a pair of man-up goals in a row.
  • The Big Green slowed down the Warriors' momentum again with a pair of goals towards the end of the first quarter.
  • With just moments left in the opening 15 minutes of play, Hailey struck. He worked himself free in the right alley and ripped a bounce shot on a tight angle to give Merrimack the lead back to conclude the quarter.
  • The visitors kept the back-and-forth game going with a pair of tallies in the opening five minutes of the second quarter to retake the lead.
  • Max Morrill stopped the Big Green run when he ripped home his first of the season with just under six minutes to play in the half.
  • Once again, Dartmouth reestablished its game. The Big Green scored twice in under a minute to gain a 7-5 lead.
  • With under three minutes to play, Carlin Joyal found an opening. The defender launched a shot that traveled some 60 yards and was kicked out, but Bertrand pounced on the rebound to complete his hat trick.
  • Dartmouth scored over a minute later to take an 8-6 lead into the halftime break.
  • Merrimack didn't take long to find the net to start the second half. Tyler Liantonio collected a pass from Christian Thomas and scored to make it a one-goal game once again.
  • The Big Green went on its fourth 2-0 run of the day after that to take a 10-7 lead midway through the third.
  • Just when he was needed, Bertrand responded. He potted another couple of goals right in a row, including one on the man-up, to end the quarter with a 10-9 lead for the visitors.
  • The teams traded goals in the opening three minutes of the fourth to make it an 11-10 game entering crunch time.
  • Dartmouth netted a crucial goal with 7:24 to play, but Bertrand converted again with a long range missile a minute later to narrow the gap once again.
  • The Big Green defense clamped down in the final six minutes and got an insurance goal with four minutes to play, as they narrowly escaped with a 13-11 triumph.
