CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Merrimack College men's hockey team was unable to dig itself out of an early hole, as #6/7 Boston College topped the Warriors 6-2 Saturday night at Conte Forum.

Liam Walsh and Regan Kimens found the back of the net for the visitors, but two goals in each period from the Eagles was too much in the end.

How It Happened
  • Boston College played a strong opening period and claimed a 2-0 lead going into the first intermission. Jere Huhtamaa made eight saves during the frame in the Warrior net.
  • The second period started off far more positively for the visitors from North Andover. They started to pile on shots on goalie Spencer Knight and eventually broke through. With six and a half minutes gone in the frame, Dominic Dockery battled to clear a puck to the neutral zone. Tyler Drevitch picked up the loose biscuit and broke in on a 2-on-1 rush with Walsh. Drevitch waited for a passing lane to open, then slid a feed to Walsh, who pumped it home for his fourth of the year.
  • The Eagles responded quickly, as they retook their two-goal lead less than a minute after the Walsh tally. The home side grew its lead to three with just over two minutes to play in the frame to make it 4-1. Merrimack outshot BC 10-7 in the stanza.
  • BC added another couple, including one on an empty net, in the final period.
  • Merrimack was able to get one back, as Kimens made a strong individual effort on the power play and beat Knight just over the shoulder late in the frame.

Notes & Numbers
  • Tyler Drevitch finished with two assists on the night, which marked the first multi-point game of his career.
  • Liam Dennison finished with a +1 rating to lead the Warriors.
  • Declan Carlile led Merrimack with four shots.
