NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College women's basketball team will finish up its three-game homestand with a visit from St. Francis Brooklyn College on Monday night. The Warriors enter the new week with a record of 12-8 overall on the season and 5-4 in the Northeast Conference. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. on Hammel Court.
Five Things to Know:
- Senior Denia Davis-Stewart is closing in on her biggest career milestone yet. The Dorchester, Mass native only needs five more rebounds to become the second women's basketball history to have over 1,000 points and also have 1,000 rebounds. Stacy Knapp is the only other Warrior player to accomplish the feat. Knapp played for Merrimack from 1998-2002. Davis-Stewart is also only 40 blocks away from 400 in her career. Her 92 blocks so far this season rank her second in the country.
- Sophomore guard Kate Mager is shooting the long ball at a 42% clip so far this season. She ranks 32nd in the country in three-point percentage, only trailing the leader by 7%. Mager is averaging 10.6 point per game this season.
- Freshman guard Jayme DeCesare leads the team in assists with 69 on the year. She also ranks second in the conference in assist/turnover ratio with a 2.09. DeCesare has is the only Merrimack freshman to start every game so far this season.
- Since moving into the starting role freshman Alana Fursman has averaged 4.4 points per game for the Warriors. She scored her career-high of 14 points against Mount St. Mary's after shooting 4-6 from the field and 2-3 from long range.
- St. Francis Brooklyn is currently 6-14 on the season. Junior Ally Lassen is leading the Terriers in scoring averaging 15.6 points per game
