NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College women's basketball team concludes its two-game tri-state area road trip on Monday when they take on Fairleigh Dickinson University on Monday night. The Warriors won the first game on the trip after defeating Long Island University 66-63 on Saturday afternoon. The Warriors are currently in fourth place in the Northeast conference (NEC) standings with a record of 7-4.
Five Things to Know:
1. Senior
Denia Davis-Stewart is leading the NEC in three categories. She is averaging the most points (18.2), rebounds (13.6), and blocks per game (4.6). She is the only player in the conference averaging double figures points and rebounds. The fourth-year player also ranks sixth in free throw percentage (.774) and is tied for first in average minutes played per game (35.2).
2. Sophomore guard
Kate Mager is leading the conference in three-point percentage (.444) and three-pointers made (56). Mager is currently .28% ahead of the player in second place. She is also currently leading the conference in three-point attempts with 126 on the year. She ranks 11
th in the conference in points per game with 11.5 on the season.
3. Freshman guard
Jayme DeCesare the conference in assist/turnover ratio. The first-year point guard has a 2.1 ratio on the season, which includes 73 assists to only 35 turnovers. She also ranks fourth in assists (73), sixth in three-point percentage (.380), and 23
rd in points (10.0).
4. In their first year affiliated with the NEC the Warriors are leading the conference in field goal defense (.355), three-point percentage (.363), three-point defense (.257), and assists (14.5). Merrimack also ranks second in field goal parentage (.399) and scoring margin (+8.4).
5. Fairleigh Dickinson is currently 8-13 on the season. The last time out the Warriors topped the Knights by a score of 62-51. Junior Madison Stanley is leading the team in scoring with 12.3 points per game.
