Joey Porricelli recorded his 200
th career hit on Sunday afternoon, highlighting the effort for the Merrimack College baseball team in its 8-3 loss against the College of William & Mary on Sunday at Plumeri Park. The Warriors fell behind by four runs to start the day, and were unable to overcome the early deficit.
Merrimack dropped to 6-8 on the year while William & Mary improved to 8-8. The Warriors have one game this week, facing Stony Brook University on Wednesday on Long Island. The matchup pits former Warrior boss Jim Martin against his protégé
Nick Barese; Martin was the Warriors' head coach for four years from 2011-14, and is Stony Brook's Associate Head Coach.

- Junior Vin Zappulla allowed one run in the bottom of the second, giving the hosts a 1-0 lead entering the top of the third. Freshman Alex Haba and Porricelli hit a pair of two-out singles in that inning to create a two-out rally, but both Warriors were stranded in scoring position
- After two quick outs to start the bottom of the fourth, the Tribe mounted a prolonged two-out rally. Three walks, two singles and a passed ball generated three runs for William & Mary, making it a 4-0 game
- Merrimack scored its first run in the top of the fifth. Senior Thomas Joyce hit a leadoff double, which was followed by consecutive walks to load the bases. After two outs, sophomore Michael Golankiewicz drew a bases-loaded walk to push the first run across the board
- After William & Mary scored thrice in the bottom of the sixth, the Warriors got two runs back in the top of the eighth. Porricelli hit a leadoff double, reached third on a wild pitch and scored on single by Golankiewicz. Sophomore Kurtis Stadnicki drove his classmate in later in the frame with a single to center, creating a 7-3 deficit for the visitors
- Sophomore LT Pare got some work in out of the bullpen in the eighth inning, pitching in his first non-save situation of the year. William & Mary tacked on one more run off Merrimack's closer, and sat down the Warriors in order in the ninth to record the win

- Porricelli became the seventh player in school history to reach 200 hits
- He increased on his program record for runs scored as well, touching home for the 144th time in his esteemed career
- Golankiewicz moved up to the No. 2 spot in Merrimack's order, knocking in a pair of runs.
- Freshman Braydon Dolbashian started for the first time in his career as Merrimack's designated hitter
