NORTH ANDOVER, Mass.– Despite a strong defensive effort and 38 save performance, the Merrimack women's ice hockey team fell to the No. 4/4 Northeastern University Huskies to a 5-0 final at Matthews Arena on Friday.

How It Happened
  • Northeastern scored its first of the game at 10:41 of the first, scoring on a rebound from the far side.
  • Less than a minute later, the Huskies got their second of the game on a play off of the boards, finishing with a shot from the slot that went in at 11:35 of the first.
  • The third of the night came for the hosts on a shorthanded opportunity off of an offensive break from a takeaway at center ice at 10:11 of the middle period.
  • Two more were tacked on in the third period, with the fourth goal coming at the end of a power play opportunity for the Huskies, as a loose puck was shoved in on a blocker save. A couple minutes later, the final tally of the night came on a backhanded shot across the low slot.
  • The Warriors offense threw ten shots on goal, with four shots on goal coming off the stick of junior Gabby Jones.
Notes & Numbers
  • The Warriors overwhelmed the Huskies in the faceoff dot, winning 32 of the 48 draws in the contest.
  • Defense was also key with 16 blocked shots on the afternoon, stepping up to keep pucks to the outside.
  • The 43 shots on goal Gorski faced is tied for her second-highest of the season with the Dec. 18 game at UConn.
