North Andover, Mass. – Merrimack College women's volleyball team took a set from Fairleigh Dickinson University on Saturday night in the loss.
Brooke Leestma led the team with 14 kills on the afternoon.
Annie Taylor added a team-high 20 assists during the contest.

Set Breakdown:
- In the first set, the Knights took an early 7-4 advantage after three straight points. Avery Brown buried a kill that made the score 10-7. Ashley Gajdzik earned the assist on the point. Fairleigh Dickinson went on a four-point run to make the score 16-9. Kara Haase and Leestma scored two points for the Warriors to bring the game within five. The Knights went on a five-point run to go up ten and virtual eliminate Merrimack from the first set.
- In set two the Warriors took and early 5-3 lead after a Leestma kill. The Knights stormed back to take a one-point advantage. Leestma had back-to-back kills for Merrimack during a three-point run that gave them a four-point lead. Fairleigh Dickinson pulled within one point. The Warriors then added two scores of their own to make the score 17-14. A service ace by Kayla Zinser made the score 19-15. The Knights stormed back to tie the game up at 22. Both teams batted doing their best to get the two points then needed to take home the set. A service ace by Leestma gave the Warriors the win and tied the game at one set each.
- The Warriors took the momentum that they got in the second set, into the third, jumping out to a 5-4 lead. Fairleigh Dickinson stormed back earning five out of six straight points to take a 9-6 lead. Both teams continued to go back and forth. A Leestma kill brought Merrimack within two points. The Knights then went on a four-point run to jump back out by six. Merrimack batted. The Warriors earned four points in a row to go down five. Fairleigh Dickinson finished the set with four consecutive points.
- The Knights jumped out to a six-point advantage early on in the fourth set. Later on, in the set, a kill by Brown and a service ace by Haase brought the Warriors within three. After a Fairleigh Dickinson timeout, the Knights went on a six-point run to go up nine. Fairleigh Dickinson would not relinquish the lead and one the set 25-16.
Notes and Notables:
- Leestma led the team in aces with three.
- Quinn Kellogg and Gajdzik both had 15 assists in the game.

The Warriors head up to New Hampshire to take on the Wildcats. Game time is set for 6 p.m. next Wednesday.
