Volleyball Comes up Short Against Terriers in Brooklyn

The Merrimack College women's volleyball faced the Saint Francis Brooklyn Terriers on Saturday afternoon, but were unable to come through with the win.

The Basics:
Score: Saint Francis Brooklyn , Merrimack 0 (25-13 | 25-2 | 25-19)
Records: Merrimack (0-18, 0-4 NEC) | Saint Francis Brooklyn (5-13, 2-2 NEC)
Location: Brooklyn, N.Y. / Genovesi Center


Set Breakdown:
  • Merrimack got on the board first in this set and had four different players knock kills. This included three by Brooke Leestma and two by Sophie Meyers. The Warriors also capitalized on six attack errors made the opposing team. The Terriers came away with the set, with the help of two 5-point runs, and two 4-point runs.
  • Warriors had a tough second set, as the Terriers only allowed two points.
  • The Warriors battled back in the third set, but came up just short. They again took advantage of their opponent's mistakes, and were led by Kayla Zinser and Maalese Wallace who both had three kills.
Notes and Notables:
  • Warriors continue to put forth a strong team effort, with six different players having multiple kills in the match
  • Leestma led the Warriors with four kills
