How It Happened
  • Midway through the first, Boston College capitalized on its first power play opportunity of the night, finishing on a deflected shot from the point for the lead.
  • Early in the second, Boston College doubled its lead, again pressuring down low to capture a rebound after Merrimack opened the second period with a slew of offensive opportunities.
  • The Warriors were able to break through on the power play in the third period after stringing together five consecutive shots on goal before drawing a penalty. Madison Oelkers stepped up for Merrimack on the draw, winning the puck back to a waiting Katie Kaufman at the top of the circle. Kaufman's initial shot cutting across the slot was saved by Boston College, with the rebound coming to the side of the goal mouth where Oelkers pounced on it for her first goal as a Warrior.
  • Merrimack brought the pressure to the second half of a period, fending off a flash by BC before firing three more potent attempts on goal that couldn't muster the equalizer the Warriors needed.
  • Emma Gorski held firm for the Warriors in goal, making 24 saves, including a stellar glove save late in the game to drive momentum for Merrimack heading into the closing minutes.
