KINGSTON, R.I. – The Merrimack College women's basketball team struggled from the get go against the University of Rhode Island on Friday night. The Warriors led by captain,
Mayson Kimball, who went 4-12 from the field and 2-6 from three which was good enough for 11 points. Leading the way in the paint for Merrimack was,
Jayme DeCesare and
Carla Balague, who both had five rebounds.
It was another rough night for the Warriors shooting from the field as they had a 22.2% field goal percentage and a 19.0% three-point shooting percentage.

- Merrimack had a tough time handling URI in the first half as the Rams came out firing putting up 60 first half points. The Warriors didn't help themselves out much though as they turned the ball over 12 times while shooting a 24.1% field goal percentage in the first two quarters.
- Kaylee Thomas once again set the pace for Merrimack coming off of the bench. Her seven points while shooting 2-5 from the field and 1-2 from three, helped the Warriors stay competitive throughout the opening two quarters.
- It was more of the same in the second half as URI continued to shoot lights out while the Warriors struggled. Merrimack shot a tough 15% field goal percentage in the third quarter, which set the pace for the remainder of the night.
- The fourth quarter actually saw a slight improvement as the Warriors got some help from the bench once again this season. Balague came back into the game and had an immediate impact as she had two points and three rebounds.
