Rapid Recap
- The opening frame started out hot for the Warriors as sophomore, Teneisia Brown, won the opening tip and Merrimack went straight to work. Their first procession ended with a three pointer from Mager to set the tone for the rest of the night. After a couple baskets by the Big Green to take a three-point lead, graduate student, Mayson Kimball, drained back-to-back threes to start an 11-0 run for the Warriors.
- The second quarter was a lot more of a back-and-forth affair for both sides and the Warriors have junior, Jayme DeCesare, to thank for that. The Johnston, R.I. native had eight points and a steal to cap it off as she had almost half of the Warrior points in the second quarter. (8 out of 17) This had Merrimack going into the locker room feeling good about their game through the half.
- Coming out in the second half the Warriors upped their defense and kept the Big Green off of the scoreboard and only allowed them to shoot 38.5% from the field on 13 shots. Brown got the Warriors rolling early with two quick buckets in the paint. After trading shots throughout almost the entire frame, as the clocked expired, DeCesare whipped a perfect feed to Mager who buried a three to bring Merrimack to within one going into the final ten minutes.
- The final quarter was by far the best for Merrimack scoring 22 points to Dartmouth's 13 points. The Warriors were able to put the game away by getting to the free throw line 14 total times while hitting 11. After taking the lead back 25 seconds into the quarter, Merrimack didn't look back and led for the final eight minutes and seven seconds of the game before eventually coming out on top.
