Rapid Recap
- After the opening tip fell to the Terriers, the following sequence went just the way the Warriors wanted. On the defensive end, Brown got the steal and then pushed the pace to the offensive end where Merrimack went to work. Graduate student, Paige McCormick, drove the ball to the net and pulled the BU defenders to her and then dished a sweet pass to classmate, Mayson Kimball, who buried a three. After a Terrier jumper, and a Warrior miss, Brown took advantage and stole the ball once again from BU and took it down to the other end for two points. After the first substitutions of the game Merrimack's bench took immediate advantage. Junior, Diamond Christian, took the ball over the half court line and slung a sweet feed to sophomore, Amaya Staton, who laid a wide-open bucket off the glass and in. To end the quarter, Brown finished off one of her best quarters of the season when she attacked the paint, got the bucket, the foul, and then nailed the free throw for a three-point play.
- The second quarter was more of the same for the warriors as they were led by Mager and Brown on the offensive end. Brown started Merrimack off with a strong bucket in the paint. After a BU bucket junior, Kaylee Thomas, took the ball and set a play up for Merrimack. She then drove the lane and then swung the ball to Mager who hit the three. Both team's defenses then locked things down and brought things into the halftime by a score of 34-31 with an advantage to BU.
- The third quarter the Terriers started to turn the tide in their favor. They outscored the Warriors 20-11, but that didn't tell the entire story. Merrimack had their opportunities, but just couldn't convert on the offensive end. Mager kept the Warriors within striking distance going into the final ten minutes with five of her 12 points in the third quarter.
- In the final frame, both teams seemed to run out of gas a bit, but Merrimack didn't go down without a fight. McCormick started the quarter out with a clutch triple to get the Warriors within 13 points of the Terriers. Then after a couple of baskets for both sides, time expired with the Terriers ending up in the win column. Although they didn't end up in the win column, the night was a huge success and will be remembered for a long time.
