DURHAM, N.H. – The Merrimack College women's lacrosse team opened its 2021 campaign with a 20-9 loss to New Hampshire Friday afternoon at Wildcat Stadium.
Meghan Dzialo led the way for the visitors offensively, as she fired home a team-high four goals.
Catherine Mahanna and
Taylor Darrell chipped in also with two goals apiece.

How It Happened
- The Wildcats got off to a hot start, as the home side tallied the game's first seven goals in the opening 15 minutes.
- Darrell started to turn the tides with 13:30 to play in the opening half hour when she scored on a free position for the team's first marker of the year.
- Darrell netted her second of the day just three minutes later, then Mahanna got on the board as well to mark a 3-1 run for the Warriors to get back in the game.
- Dzialo ended the scoring in the first half when she finished off a free position to bring the Merrimack deficit down to five.
- New Hampshire extended its lead in the opening 20 minutes of the second with a 5-1 run. Mahanna's second of the afternoon was the lone tally for Merrimack during that span.
- Dzialo had an eventful final nine minutes of the game, as she scored a hat trick in just under six minutes. Natalie Calkins also scored her first of the season in that span before the final horn.
Notes & Numbers
- Gabby Cacciola made her Merrimack debut in net and turned aside 13 shots. Courtney Dishaw also saw time between the pipes and made two stops.
- Mahanna's three ground balls was a team-high.
- Ally DaCosta had a pair of assists to register a team-high.
