How It Happened
- Merrimack enjoyed a territorial advantage throughout most of the first period, as it fired eight shots on goal compared to the Friars' five, but neither team found the back of the net.
- The Friars built momentum in the second period and were able to convert on a pair of Nick Poisson tallies to take a 2-0 lead into the second intermission. Declan Carlile had an impressive period on the backend for the Warriors, as he blocked three shots.
- Providence scored the next two goals in the third period as well to stretch its lead to 4-0 with 11 minutes to play.
- With five and a half minutes to go, Kimens made sure the Warriors got on the board. The scoring play started when Ryan Nolan's shot was blocked, but the Friars could not clear the zone, as Dominic Dockery held the line. The defenseman put a couple shots toward the goal that were blocked and the second one fell to the stick of Kimens, who fired home his second of the season.
- Merrimack had a few more chances in the dying minutes, but an empty net goal for the Friars put a cap on the scoring.
