Rapid Recap

  • Merrimack played its second NEC match in as many days after visiting Sacred Heart University in Connecticut yesterday. The Sharks came out and took the doubles point to move ahead in the match, 1-0. The closest match of the three flights came at the top spot, where junior Rosemary Campanella and sophomore Allyson Nerf battled LIU's top pairing in a 12-game match, winning five of them. The Sharks won at No. 1 though, 7-5
  • Johnson Campana faltered in her opener, 6-3, but persevered to win at No. 5. The first-year Warrior battled to a 7-6 win in her second set to force the 10-point breaker. The Ecuadorian dominated the final frame, 10-4, to register the victory
  • Junior Hope Salts battled tough at sixth singles. Her first set went to a tiebreak, but the Sharks' athlete at the sixth flight prevailed to win the set. The same scenario played out in the second set, where Salts and her opposition won six games each to bring on a flight-deciding tiebreak. LIU won again to take the sixth flight. The visitors also won at flights No. 1-4
