SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Merrimack College men's lacrosse team fell victim to a tough second quarter, as Bryant took advantage and went on to top the Warriors by a 20-8 final Saturday afternoon at Beirne Stadium.
The Warriors had a lead midway through the opening quarter, but a few runs from the Bulldogs ultimately opened up the game in the host's favor.
Merrimack was led offensively by
Jack Rooney and
Tommy Rooney, who combined for eight points on the afternoon.
Drew Hailey and
Max Morrill also had multi-point efforts with a goal and an assist apiece.

- Bryant tallied the game's first goal a minute and a half in, but the Warriors had an early answer. Five and a half minutes in, Sean Black threaded the needle on a pass through the Bulldog defense to Morrill, who ripped it home to the near side.
- The hosts took the lead right back a little over a minute later, but the Rooney brothers came alive after that. Tommy Rooney tallied one from in-tight a minute later, then Jack Rooney uncorked a bomb from the far side with 6:17 on the clock to stake Merrimack to the lead at 3-2.
- The Bulldogs enjoyed a 4-0 run after the second Rooney tally that bled into the second quarter to grab a 6-3 advantage.
- Tommy Rooney stopped the run with 11:49 to play in the half, but Bryant had four straight after to head to the intermission with a 10-4 edge.
- After the Bulldogs pushed the lead to seven early on, Jack Rooney netted his second of the day on a wraparound just two and a half minutes into the second half.
- Bryant scored two straight afterwards, then Grant Laman tallied his first collegiate goal with 1:51 to play in the third on a hard shot from the far alley.
- A 4-0 run after that all but put the game out of reach. Tommy Rooney completed his hat trick in the fourth and Hailey scored his first of the day.
Notes and Numbers
- Henry Vogt made his second straight start in net and had a career-high 19 saves.
- Karl Sutter led the team in ground balls with four.
- Christian Glover, Jack Barron, Nicholas Perez-Blanco and Chris Willox all caused two turnovers.
