FLUSHING MEADOWS, N.Y. – In the Merrimack College men's tennis team's fifth 4-3 contest of the season, the Warriors suffered a slim loss against St. Francis Brooklyn on Saturday afternoon in Northeast Conference (NEC) action. Merrimack's NEC record sits at 1-1 after the match while St. Francis improved to 2-1.
The match was played in Flushing Meadows, N.Y. at the USTA National Tennis Center – the annual site of the U.S. Open.

- In what proved to be a pivotal doubles point, the Terriers emerged with a 1-0 lead after doubles. All three flights were close matches. No. 3 doubles saw junior Andre Singer and sophomore Pedro de Godoy Mancini play 12 games in a 7-5 loss against St. Francis' third pairing. The hosts won by a 6-4 margin at the second flight, and a 6-3 score at first doubles to claim the overall doubles point
- The two squads split the six singles flights, with two of the six matches lasting three sets. Merrimack won two-set matches at the top-two flights to get back into the match. Freshman Jan Semerak prevailed in his opener, 6-3, before winning his second set in a tiebreak, 7-6 (6), to complete the sweep at the top flight. Classmate Aryaan Bhatia followed suit with a two-set win of his own at second singles, 6-4 and 6-3, as the rookie duo garnered Merrimack two points
- St. Francis also won two-set matches at fifth and sixth singles, however, bringing the contest down to the middle flights
- As he has done all spring, Singer battled valiantly at the fourth flight. After losing his first set, the third-year Warrior won his second set, 6-3, to force a deciding frame, which he won by a 6-4 margin. Junior Jonathan Garcia attempted to do the same thing at No. 3. The Dublin, Ireland native won his second set, 6-4, to force a third game, but his opposition prevailed to give the Terriers the match
