Men’s Tennis Dominates Holy Cross, 7-0

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College men's tennis team blanked the College of Holy Cross on Saturday afternoon, 7-0, in a non-conference match played outdoors at North Andover High School. The Warriors won all three doubles matches – with two of three victories coming in shutout fashion – before posting six victories in straight sets during the singles portion of the contest.

  • Merrimack did not lose a game at second and third doubles. Sophomore Pedro de Godoy Mancini and freshman Jan Semerak played together at the second flight for the first time this season, but for the third time overall as pairing. They won the match, 6-0. Juniors Conrad Koch and Andre Singer debuted as a duo at No. 3 doubles, equaling their No. 2 counterparts with a 6-0 victory. Junior Jonathan Garcia and freshman Aryaan Bhatia completed the doubles sweep with a 6-3 win at No. 1
  • For the first time in his collegiate career, Bhatia played at the top singles flight. He bested Holy Cross' top option, 6-2 and 6-1. Garcia and Singer appeared at second and third singles, respectively, and also notched sweeps. The former prevailed, 6-1 and 6-3, and the latter posted triumphs of 6-3 and 6-4
  • De Godoy Mancini played at fourth singles for the first time in 2021, and nearly posted an unblemished win. The second-year Warrior won his opener, 6-0, before claiming his second set, 6-1. Koch won his first singles match of the year at No. 5 with a pair of 6-2 set victories, and junior Hassan El Alami rounded out the singles lineup with another two-set win (6-0, 6-3)

Merrimack will be back in action one week from today when the Warriors return to Northeast Conference (NEC) action against St. Francis Brooklyn.
