Women's Soccer Comes Up Short Against Manhattan

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. — The Merrimack College women's soccer team was unable to surpass the Manhattan Jaspers on the road on Friday afternoon.

The Summary
  • Molly Murnane gave the Warriors a lead in the third minute of the match, handling a lofty ball dropped into the midfield from Ella Cormier in for a shallow one-on-one battle with the goalkeeper that Murnane finished with a hard chip shot.
  • The Jaspers got on the board in the 13' off of a deflected shot off the right post in to draw the game.
  • Manhattan took a lead just short of the 40th minute, with a break along the left side finished into the left side of the net for the eventual game-winner.
Stats & Figures
  • Murnane's goal was her third of the season and her second against Manhattan in as many games.
  • Merrimack's offense charged for four corner kicks in each half, posting four shots on goal in the contest.
 
Up Next
The Warriors will return home to take on the Howard Bison on Sept. 19 at Martone-Mejail Field with kickoff set for noon.
