Men's Soccer Falters Against Harvard

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack men's soccer team was edged out 2-0 by Harvard despite the offensive pressure the Warriors pushed on throughout on Tuesday night.

The Summary
  • Merrimack's offense pushed for 10 shots and four shots on target in the first half. Late in the first half, Harvard finished on a low chip shot for a one goal lead.
  • In the 47th minute, the Warriors had a penalty kick opportunity after a handball in the box. Taken by Frantz Pierrot, the stutter-step approach was sent in low to the keeper's left where the Harvard keeper pounced to make a fingertip save to keep the Warriors off the board. An opportunity presented itself again on a potent play through the midfield in the 60' as a shot from the top of the box by Alessandro Negri was chipped in by Nehemie Lamtoukou but was called back for offside, holding Merrimack off the scoreboard.  
  • The Warriors pushed for eight shots on target in the second half, facilitating for 15 shot attempts in the second half alone. Despite 10 corners in the second half for Merrimack, Harvard put its second goal on the board in the 79th minute to double its lead.

  • Johan Feilscher and Pierrot led the Warriors with three shots on goal each on the night, with Pierrot working in the box for five shot opportunities.
  • Merrimack set its new top mark for shot attempts and shots on goal for the season, tying the 12 shots on goal against Northeastern.
