How It Happened
- Merrimack looked like it had once again notched the first goal of the game in the weekend series. On a power play, the Warriors worked to keep the puck in the zone, as the puck was batted down and regrouped for a shot in the crease by Gabby Jones. The rebound fluttered back and was picked up for a shot at the point by Teghan Inglis, which was deflected by Hannah Corneliusen. Upon review, officials called the goal back for being played with a high stick to keep it a scoreless game.
- The offense continued pushing in the second period, posting a game-high 17 shots on goal in the frame to challenge the Black Bears. Despite the onslaught, the Warriors were kept off the board until the third.
- Maine posted two goals in a lopsided second, with a quick goal to open the second period before capitalizing one of five power play opportunities in the game. The hosts would add a third in the opening stages of the third period for their final of the day.
- Capitalizing on momentum, the Warriors scored on a power play midway through the third period. Teghan Inglis kickstarted the play with a hard shot from the point, forcing a save with a rebound that skipped out front before being shoveled behind the net. Ally Qualley snagged the loose puck, whipping a backhand shot on goal that was captured by Madison Oelkers for the goal.
