North Andover, Mass. – The Merrimack College field hockey team lost a Northeast Conference matchup to Long Island University on Friday afternoon.

- Nine minutes into the first quarter Long Island scored first to take the lead. Three minutes later Morgan Chase scored to even the score at one. Katelyn Bennett assisted on the goal. Seven minutes into the second quarter, the Sharks found the back of the net to go up by one. The score was 2-1 heading into halftime. Long Island added a goal one minute into the third, going up two. Abby Allen then added a goal for the Warriors cutting the advantage to one. The Sharks scored two more times before the end of the third, giving them a three-goal lead heading into the fourth. Allen scored her second goal of the afternoon in the 47th minute. Lauren Burke had the assist. Long Island scored one more time, giving them the win by three.

- Merrimack goalkeeper Paige Degeorge finished the game with nine saves.

Merrimack gets back to action on Sunday afternoon when the team travels to New Hampshire to take on the Wildcats. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
