The Merrimack Warriors women's hockey team earned their first Hockey East point of the season when they tied with the University of Connecticut Huskies today with a score of 2-2. The Warriors however fell in the shootout 1-0.

The Warriors took the lead when Ashlyn Kroes picked up her first collegiate point with a secondary assist when she passed to Teghan Inglis who found a speeding Alexa Pongo who put it past the Huskies goaltender at 7:57 of the first period.
Merrimack doubled the advantage when Katie Kaufman scored on her own rebound to make the score 2-0, Hannah Corneliusen and Hayley Chang were awarded the assists on the tally.
Connecticut would get on the board at 10:39 of the second period, cutting the lead in half.
The Huskies tied the game, at 15:51 of the final period.
UConn scored the lone goal in the extra point deciding shootout.
Notes and Numbers
- Katie Kaufman scored her third goal of the season and led the team seven shots.
- Alexa Pongo tallied her second goal of the campaign.
- Hayley Chang picked up her first assist of the season, her second point in her career, both have come against Connecticut
- Teghan Inglis had one assist and led the team with three blocks
- Emma Gorski made 29 saves in the game.

The Warriors take on the Terriers of Boston University, with the home game of the two matchups coming on Friday October 28th, the Warriors head on the road for the second of the games on Saturday October 29th. The home matchup begins 6:00 p.m and the road game will begin at 3 p.m. and both those games can seen on ESPN Plus.
