AMESBURY, Mass. – Merrimack College men's hockey graduate student defenseman, Slava Demin, was named the Hockey East Defender of the Week, as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.
He notched three total assists in the Warriors's wins Friday and Saturday night against Maine. On Friday, Demin forced the neutral zone turnover and swung the puck to
Alex Jefferies who took it to the net and placed the initial shot on that was eventually put home on the rebound by
Matt Copponi for the game winning tally.
On Saturday, he continued his passing success by assisting Copponi on two power play assists. The first one put the Warriors out in front just under nine minutes into the game and the second one would put the Warriors up two with one second to go in the period before intermission.
The Santa Clara, CA native now has five assists on the year, along with two goals and a +7 to date.
The Warriors will return to play on November 17 against Sacred Heart in Bridgeport, Conn for a non-
conference matchup.
