The Merrimack Women's Hockey Team was defeated in the first of two weekend home games on Thursday night by a score of 5-1 at J.Thom Lawler Rink.
Merrimack (5-9-1, 4-8-1): 1 Vermont: 9-5-1, 7-3-1): 5
Vermont struck first and grabbed the lead around the 7 minute mark and carried the lead into the first intermission.
In the second, Merrimack would kill off an early penalty, but Vermont would double the lead on one shortly after the first at 6:01 of the frame.
Vermont would add their third, seven minutes later on a rebound near the crease.
Merrimack would finally get on the board at the halfway mark of the third, when a stretch pass from
Raice Szott found
Alexa Pongo who found
Sam Lessick on the pass across for the goal.
Vermont would add two more goals in the final 4 minutes to ultimately finish this game with a 5-1 score.
