Women's Soccer Drops Semifinal Match Against Sacred Heart

North Andover, Mass. – The Merrimack College women's soccer season came to an end Thursday night after a loss to Sacred Heart University, 2-1. Erin Tyldesley had the lone goal for the Warriors in the defeat.

  • 11 minutes into the first half, on the Warriors first shot on goal, Tydesley found the back of the net on a blast from just out side the box. The goal gave the Warriors an early lead. Molly Murnane fired a shot that was saved by the Pioneer goalkeeper. In the 22nd minute Sacred Heart scored the equalizer. Cassie Avenick answered with a shot that was saved once again by the Pioneers. Both teams went into halftime tied at one. Five minutes into the second half, Sacred Heart scored, taking its first lead of the night. Caleigh Christensen launched a shot on next that was saved. In the 60th minute, Murnane had a shot go off the left post. In the final five minutes the Warriors had three shots, but none could find the next, giving the Pioneers the win.
