Men's Hockey Defeated By Providence In Ledyard Bank Tournament Final

The Merrimack men's hockey team fell behind early and were defeated by the Providence College Friars by a score of 6-1 in the finals of the Ledyard Bank Classic on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Basics
Score: Merrimack: 1 Providence: 6
Records: Merrimack (14-5-0, 9-2-0) | Providence (11-4-5, 6-1-5)

Providence grabbed the early lead, as they scored on a turnover just under six minutes into the opening frame.

Providence would double the lead around ten minutes later on a shot from close in.

Providence would add their third of the period on the powerplay with under a minute to go in the first.

In the second, Providence scored again, this time shorthanded to make the score 4-0.

Merrimack would get on the board on a 4 on 3 opportunity as Matt Copponi would score to put the Warriors on the board.

Providence however would make the deficit four again as they scored with 19 seconds to play in the second.

Providence would score a shorthanded empty netter as the final goal of the contest at 14:40 of the third.
