Men's Basketball Downed By San Francisco

NORTH ANDOVER, MASS. – The Merrimack College men's basketball team fell in its West Coast matchup against the University of San Francisco on Wednesday night, 69-51. Both Jordan Minor and Ziggy Reid finished with 15 points. Minor also have five rebounds. Jordan Derkack had seven points off the bench in the loss.

  • Both teams traded buckets for the first three minutes of the game. The Dons then scored nine straight points to go up nine. Derkack hit a three to stop the run. San Fran added five points to go up by 11. With seven minutes to go in the first half the Dons were up by 12. The Warriors then went on a nine-point run finished off by a Devon Savage three, putting Merrimack down three. San Fran responded by finishing the half with nine unanswered points to head into halftime up nine.
  • The Dons opened the second half with five points, going up by 16. Javon Bennett ended the run with a jumper in the paint. With 13 minutes to play, Minor hit a jumper to cut it down to 10 points. The Dons then added five, going back up 15. A three by Savage with four and a half minutes left sliced the advantage down to 16. The comeback efforts for the Warriors came up short, losing the game by 18.

  • Merrimack scored 28 points in the paint.
  • Six different Warriors had at least one assist.
  • Bennett finished the game with three steals.
