SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Merrimack College men's lacrosse team was unable to come back after an early deficit in a 16-4 loss to Bryant Saturday afternoon at Beirne Stadium.
Bryant scored the game's first four goals, then had a few more runs throughout the contest to build a sizable cushion over the Warriors in both team's NEC opener.
Trace Hogan,
Sean Black,
Mason Balch and
Brian Bouwman all found the back of the net for Merrimack.
A trio of goalies found time for the visitors, as
Henry Vogt got the start, then
Andrew Jenet relieved him.
Zachary Koch made his collegiate debut in the fourth to finish the game.

Rapid Recap
- Merrimack did not get off to the start it was looking for, as Bryant scored the game's first four goals in the opening four minutes.
- The Warriors got on the board just under four minutes in when Grant Laman threw a pass from behind the net to Hogan in the near alley for a long range finish to the top of the net.
- Bryant regained momentum and ended the first quarter on a 4-0 run to take an 8-1 lead after 15 minutes of play.
- A few high quality chances were stopped for the Warriors and the Bulldogs added a pair in the second quarter to take a 10-1 lead into the halftime break.
- The Bulldogs notched the first three goals of the second half as well, but then Jack Rooney slung a pass in front for Black for a goal to stop that run with 8:40 to play in the third.
- Scoring continued to slow down in the fourth quarter, as the rain picked up, but Balch broke through for the Warriors with 9:11 to go on a slick play when he cut in front from the near side.
- Bryant enjoyed a late run in the fourth, then Bouwman closed the scoring with a goal off a Kaden Brunson pass in the final minute. It marked the first collegiate point for Brunson.

- Christian Thomas's two caused turnovers led the Warriors.
- Allyn French won 10 of the 23 faceoffs he took on the day.
