NORTH ANDOVER, M.A. – The women's lacrosse team began in-conference play, and secured their first win of their 2022 campaign at home against Howard University. The Warrior offense stunned the Bison defense, with hat tricks from
Catherine Mahanna,
Meghan Dzialo, and
Taylor Darrell. Dzialo's performance today brought her to 100 career goals, and the win was Coach Fox Sargent's first leading the program.

How it happened:

st quarter:
- Warriors got off to a hot start, with Mahanna, Darrell, and Dzialo going back-to-back-to-back.
- Merrimack defense would hold the visiting Bisons to just one goal in the quarter.
- Mahanna would find the back of the net for her second goal of the game before quarter's end.
- Score at end of 1st: 4-1 Merrimack

nd quarter:
- Valdes would score first for her team in the second quarter. This unassisted goal marked her third of the season thus far.
- Mahanna's hat trick would come a few minutes later, scoring on a drive through center
- Other goal scorers for the Warriors were some of their most consistent players offensively: Dzialo, Natalie Calkins, Gerorgia Parker, and Sophie Scearbo.
- Scearbo's goal came off quick hands to find the net right at the buzzer
- The Warriors would again hold Howard to just one goal
- Score at end of 2nd: 10-2 Merrimack

rd quarter:
- Just about a minute later, Meghan Dzialo was scored on a free position to push her to 100 career goals
- Olivia White and Darrell would add one each before the end of the quarter. White's goal was her first of her collegiate career.
- Throughout the game, the defense mirrored the offense's efforts, as Howard yet again was held to one goal in the quarter.
- Score at end of 3rd: 14-3 Merrimack
4
th quarter:
- With Merrimack's considerable lead, some underclassmen hit the turf and succeeded. Mollie Morrison and Kirsten McIntire each earned their first goals of the season.
- Darrell finished up the offensive push for the Warriors, and completed her day with a hat trick.
Final Score: 17-6 Merrimack

Up next, the Warriors will head to New Britain, Connecticut to take on the Central Connecticut State Blue Devils. Game time is set for Wednesday, March 30 at 4:00 pm.
