Scoring Plays
- FDU scored in the first inning, as a leadoff single to short and stolen base began the afternoon with a runner in scoring position. A double to center brought her in for the run, before Merrimack's stout defense held the runner at third on a deep fly ball to center.
- In the bottom of the third the Warriors' bats got to work as Catherine Kingman sent a single to right with two outs. Courtney Lanpher singled to short, moving Kingman over before Sarah Reisler used her speed to load the bases with a well-placed bunt before a fly out negated their surge.
- Doubling their lead, the Knights worked a double and a string of four straight singles to bring in the second run of the day before a grounder by the pinch hitter left three on base.
- Merrimack got to work in the fifth inning to begin their rubber match rally. Sofia Palyan singled to first base, advancing to second on an error by the first baseman. Kingman sailed her second hit of the day with a double to left, putting two in scoring position for the Warriors. Lanpher sent a sacrifice fly to right field to bring in Palyan to score, with Kingman moving to third. Rookie Ellen Hubbard sent a high pop up to left field, where the outfielder misplayed the ball allowing her to reach safely and Kingman to come in to score to tie the game.
- The Knights retook the lead in the top of the sixth, with a two-out walk costing two runs when FDU sent a home run to left center.
