STORRS, CONN. – The Merrimack College baseball team suffered a loss Wednesday afternoon to nationally ranked University of Connecticut. The Warriors got one hit a piece from five different players.
Alex Haba,
Scott Elliott, and
Ben Nelson all added to their batting average in the defeat.
Thomas Crowley and
Andrew Selima also had base knocks for the Warriors.

- The Huskies struck first in the bottom half of the first inning on a two-run home run that set the pace early on. In the top of the second, Braydon Dolbashian and Nelson drew walks to put runners on first and second with no outs. Crowley then singled to load the bases. Bryant Skurbe launched a fly ball to left, which was long enough to score Dolbashian from third. Connecticut added three runs in the bottom of the second to go up four. Elliott singed in the third, but was left on first after back-to-back fly outs. The Huskies added another run on a solo homerun to extend their lead to five. Haba singled with two outs in the fifth. The junior advanced to second on a wild pitch, but was left in scoring position at the end of the inning. Connecticut tacked on three runs in the bottom of the fifth to go up eight.
- Nelson singled with two outs in the top of the sixth, but was left on first at the end of the inning. Jack Collins entered in the sixth inning and got the Huskies to go down in order. A solo homerun in the bottom of the eighth gave Connecticut 10 runs on the afternoon. A single by Selima with two outs in the ninth failed to get a run across home plate.
