Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Warriors Take Down Red Flash

LORETTO, P.A. – The women's lacrosse team traveled for an in-conference matchup against Saint Francis University. The Warriors battled against both the weather and the Red Flash, but came away with the win.
The Basics:
Score: Merrimack 12, Saint Francis 8
Records: Merrimack 3-8, 3-1 NEC, Saint Francis 4-8, 1-3 NEC

How it happened:
1st quarter:
  • The Warriors got off to a slow start, only scoring once in the quarter. The goal was scored by Olivia Valdes, who continued to show off her offensive skills, just as she did in the team's game against Boston University.
  • The Red Flash scored once before Valdes' goal, and twice after.
  • Score at end of 1st: 3-1 Saint Francis
2nd quarter:
  • Although the Warriors were stifled for most of the first quarter, you could tell they had much more left in the tank – and that's exactly what they did. The Warriors would go on a 6-0 scoring run that would extend into the third quarter.
  • Goals for Merrimack came at the hands of Sophie Scearbo, Meghan Dzialo (2), and Taylor Darrell.
  • Score at end of 2nd: 5-3 Merrimack
3rd quarter:
  • Like was mentioned, Merrimack brought their offensive pressure into this quarter, adding two more to their lead.
  • The Red Flash would eventually respond, scoring three in the third quarter. However, the Warriors wouldn't give up that easily. Darrell added two more for her team before the end of the quarter.
  • Score at end of 3rd: 9-6 Merrimack
4th quarter:
  • Dzialo would find her third of the day to start off the final 15 minutes of play.
  • The Red Flash would score twice in the quarter, but the Warriors would put in two more as well from Valdes and Georgia Parker.

Final Score: Merrimack 12, Saint Francis 8
